League Bulletin Board: News and Notes for the Quorum

July -August 2014 Edition

Little League® on Television: More than 140 Little League Baseball® and Little League Softball® tournament games are scheduled to be televised on ABC, the ESPN family of networks, New England Sports Network (NESN) and the Longhorn Network throughout the month of August.

The complete World Series television schedule and the day-by-day Little League Baseball World Series viewing schedule are available at LLBWS.org.

We hope you can visit one or more of these venues to see the games in person. If not, we invite you to enjoy the games on television or through the WatchESPN app and Little League World Series website.

2014 Tournament Mileage Reporting: The deadline for submitting tournament mileage reports is Sept. 15. The form is available here.

Field Maintenance: Depending if your league will be conducting a fall ball or a training and development season, it is time to consider work days to prepare for the offseason. In much the same way work days are scheduled to get ready for the season, a postseason work day is critical to assess the condition of your facility. Take note of the field conditions and maintenance equipment, fencing, concession stand, press box, light poles parking lot, etc. Begin to consider what items need to be placed on the budget for repair or purchase before the start of games next season.

End-of-Year Evaluations: Now that we’ve reached the end of another exciting Little League® season, this is a great time to hold an end-of-year meeting with parents or distribute a survey to obtain feedback about their experience during the year. This information will be valuable as your current Board of Directors and the incoming Board look to improve the league for future years. Your League President is asked to share these ideas at the next district meeting and discuss as a group how to improve.

Fazzino Commemorative Pins for Sale: Nationally-celebrated pop artist Charles Fazzino (fazzino.com), best known for his passion for bright colors, wonderful detail and a unique hand-assembled 3-D layering technique that brings his images to life, worked with fifth grade students from schools in Lycoming and Sullivan Counties in Pennsylvania to create the official artwork for Little League's 75th Anniversary. Commemorative pins inspired by Mr. Fazzino’s work and in recognition of Little League’s diamond anniversary are current available through the Little League Online Store.
