Thank You to Our Volunteers
In 1938, a small group of dedicated adults started meeting with Carl Stotz to talk about bringing youth baseball to their community in Williamsport, Pa. Those dedicated volunteers did everything – from finding sponsors to recruiting players to drafting the rules of the organization that would become Little League®.
Since the first Little League game was played on June 6, 1939, volunteers have been the heartbeat of the organization. From that small group of dedicated men and women in central Pennsylvania to the more than 1 million adults dedicated their time, efforts, and talents in more than 80 countries around the world, Little League’s volunteers are some of the best in the world.
In honor of National Volunteer Week, Stephen D. Keener, Little League President and CEO, has a special message for all Little League volunteers. And whether you’re a District Administrator or concession stand manager; team manager or team mom; League President or umpire, Little League International thanks you for your dedicated service.
