World of Series: Little League's International Tournament Season Made for an Exciting August

Discipline, Confidence, Execution Lead Japan to 2010 LLB World Series Title

The 64th Little League Baseball World Series came to an end on Sunday, Aug. 29, in South Williamsport, Pa., capping another wonderful Little League summer. Now it's time to look back on other divisions of World Series play in 2010.

In front of a crowd of 29,812 at Howard J. Lamade Stadium in South Williamsport, Pa., Edogawa Minami Little League from Tokyo, Japan, became the first International Region Champion to win the Little League Baseball World Series in the past six years.

 

Little League International Recognizes 2010 Award Recipients at World Series Events in Williamsport

All U.S. Little League Softball Tournaments to Be Played at Regional Headquarters Starting in 2011

Traveling to Williamsport as guests of Little League International, the 2010 Little League Baseball Awards Program recipients were honored during the annual awards breakfast, and during World Series pre-game ceremonies.

Beginning in 2011, all five of the U.S. Regional Tournaments in the Little League Softball Division will be played at the regional centers it was announced by Patrick Wilson, Vice President of Operations for Little League Baseball and Softball.

 

Statement from Little League Regarding Composite Bats in Jr., Sr., and Big League Baseball Divisions

2010 Little League Photo Contest Award Winners Selected

A moratorium on the use of composite bats in the Junior, Senior, and Big League Baseball Divisions of Little League was enacted on Aug. 27, 2010, by the Little League International Board of Directors, effective immediately.

Ray Ambler's photo of umpire and Coach Jacob Cuccia and his first Tee Ball team has been voted as the winner of the 2010 Little League Baseball and Softball photo contest. Mr. Ambler is a volunteer from the Arroyo Grande (Calif.) Valley Little League.

 

Smithsonian Roberto Clemente Exhibit Opens at Peter J. McGovern Little League Museum

Little League International Mourns Passing of Scott Grove, World Series and Camp Volunteer

The Smithsonian Institution's traveling exhibit honoring the life and legacy of baseball Hall of Famer Roberto Clemente will make a two-month stop at the Peter J. McGovern Little League Museum beginning this month.

G. Scott Grove, directed the Little League Baseball summer camps and was a volunteer at the Little League Baseball World Series for many years. He passed away on Saturday (Sept. 4). He was 50.

Two Challenger Teams Take the Field at the Little League World Series — and Shine

Long-time World Series team host Fred Plankenhorn passed away during the Little League Baseball World Series. Mr. Plankenhorn served as an "Uncle" for the teams that participate in South Williamsport for 44 years.

Roughly 2,000 fans came out to watch Cherry Hill, N.J., and Friendswood, Texas, in the Challenger Game at Volunteer Stadium. What the fans saw was a powerful reminder of the true greatness of Little League.

 

Central Region Volunteer Headed to Peace Corps

Eric Hill Named to Marketing Position with Little League International

Megan Cain has been volunteering with her family at the Little League Central Region Headquarters in Indianapolis for several years. In September, the Ball State University graduate will begin a two-year stay in Vanuatu for the U.S. Peace Corps.

Eric Hill has been named Director of Licensing for Little League Baseball and Softball it was announced by Stephen D. Keener, Little League President and Chief Executive Officer.

Jackie Robinson West Little League in Chicago to Add Softball, Challenger Programs for 2011 Season

Little League families, friends and volunteers can receive a 15 percent discount on stays when booking at any of Hilton Worldwide brands. For each reservation, a contribution will be made to support the Little League organization.

Jackie Robinson West Little League, chartered thorough the Little League Urban Initiative, will add Little League Softball (for girls, league-age 4-to-12), and Challenger Division teams for the physically and mentally disabled to its program beginning with the 2011 season.
