Getting Ready for the Season

This is the time for all Volunteer Little League Baseball and Softball Umpires, new and experienced, to get ready for the upcoming season. There are three primary areas all umpires need to focus on prior to the start of the baseball and softball season. They are equipment, physical, and mental readiness. The umpire is fundamental in the playing of a game of baseball. But, how the umpire presents himself or herself will go a long way in determining how the umpire is perceived and regarded. Imperative to an umpire is punctuality at the site, appearance on the field, demeanor towards players and coaches, and hustle and positioning on each call.
