Thank
you to Jim
Valenta of
Skokie,
Ill., for
his
submission
of the “Star
Drill” for
the Drill of
the month
contest.
Jim will
receive a
basic team
package
consisting
of a
manager/coach
manual and
14
instructional
passports
compliments
of Al
Herback and
Al Price,
the authors
of the
Little
League
Education
Program for
Managers and
Coaches.
Here is
Jim’s drill:
“We love the
Star Drill.
It moves
fast and the
players
really get
into it. I
am doing
this with
league-age 9
and 10 year
olds. I fill
the infield
except
pitcher, and
line up the
extra
players at
home. I hit
the ball to
the second
baseman, he
throws to
third who
throws to
First, who
throws to
shortstop
who throws
home. As
this is
going on I
have one of
the extra
guys trying
to run the
bases and
score before
the ball
gets home.
If you draw
it out on a
paper the
ball makes a
star.”
Again
Congratulations
to Jim.
If you have
a drill you
would like
to submit
for next
month’s
Drill of the
Month
contest,
please
e-mail it to
headquarters@littleleague.org
and
hopefully
your will be
selected!
