Little League® Tee Ball Teaches Fun, Fitness and Fundamentals

Tee Ball is a time when foundations are built and memories are forged for kids and their parents. Children as young as four are welcomed into Little League during this first year and many will establish their opinions of the overall program by the experience of these several weeks, because it is the first time the kids will play organized ball.

Many of these same emotions are experienced by the parents who made the choice to entrust Little League with their children. Embracing young families and encouraging them to experience Tee Ball together was the motivation for the creation of a unique program just for our newest Little Leaguers®.

In 2013, Little League®, in conjunction with the Positive Coaching Alliance and the Baseball Factory, introduced an exciting new approach to Tee Ball focused on teaching the fundamentals of the game to kids in a fun and energetic environment.

The free 10-week program aims to give young Little Leaguers a positive introduction to the sport that will keep them coming back season after season.

The Little League® Tee Ball program is designed to allow each team to participate in one practice and one game per week and encourages leagues to use rosters of 6-to-8 players. Complete practice plans are provided for each week of the 10-week program and include numerous resources including quick practice plans, drill diagrams, SKLZ FUN-damentals instructional videos and more.

Little League strongly encourages every league and Tee Ball coach to utilize the great resources available through the Little League® Tee Ball program to create a positive and exciting experience for their league’s tee ball participants.

In future editions of the Coach’s Box, Little League International will provide a tip, drill or story about the Little League Tee Ball program.
