The Wall-Sit Drill Strengthens a Softball Catcher’s Legs and Improves Their Pitch-Framing Technique
In this free, Coaches Resource Center video, former UCLA Softball great Jen Schroeder explains the wall-sit framing drill. This drill helps to strengthen a catcher’s legs, while working on the proper techniques for “framing” a pitch.

The Fundamentals of Catching a Ball are Fun to Teach and Easy to Learn
The Little League® Tee Ball program provides coaches with the fundamentals for teaching the youngest Little Leaguers® how to safely play baseball and softball. Among the assortment of drills available through the free Coaches Resource Center are lessons that parents and Tee Ball coaches can access to learn about the three-step method for teaching players how to properly catch a ball.

Coaching Tip of the Month: Generating Bat Speed and Power Can Be Accomplished by Using the Power-Through Drill
This month’s drill was sent to us by Little League® coach “Mike M.,” from New York. This hitting drill uses a batting tee and a partially deflated basketball, soccer ball or other standard size round ball.

Designed for baseball and softball players in the Minor divisions and above, this drill focuses on developing a swing that uses the entire body.

With Two Strikes Choke Up and Put the Ball in Play
In this free, Coaches Resource Center video, the focus is on hitting with two strikes. As described in the video, the first two strikes are for the batter to pick their pitch. With two strikes, it is the responsibility of the batter to do whatever it takes to put the ball in play.

Bob Baxter, a coach for California’s Menlo-Atherton Little League, won the 2014 Positive Coaching Alliance Double-Goal Coach Award. Selected from hundreds of nominations, Mr. Baxter has balanced his coaching methods between respecting the game and teaching the significance of team success.
