Nominate Coaches for PCA's Double-Goal Coach® Award

Coaching for Little League offers tremendous personal reward in the satisfaction that you are helping develop our nation’s youth with Character, Courage and Loyalty. At Positive Coaching Alliance, a national partner of Little League, we also offer a tangible reward in the form of our Double-Goal Coach® Awards.

PCA annually honors 20 youth and high school sports coaches from throughout the U.S. who embody the ideals of the Double-Goal Coach, striving to win, while also pursuing the second, more-important goal of teaching life lessons through sports. The award includes $250, a stunning trophy and recognition in PCA's website, newsletters and media campaigns.

Throughout the years of PCA’s national partnership with Little League, we have enjoyed a great history of honoring Little League managers and coaches, who have been nominated, including three winners in 2012 and hopefully even more in 2013.

All coaches, parents, athletes, friends, family members or fans can click here and nominate as many coaches as they wish now through December 31, 2012.

Criteria of a Double-Goal Coach

• Redefines "Winner" through the ELM Tree of Mastery (where ELM stands for Effort, Learning and Mistakes are OK). Rather than a strict scoreboard orientation, a Double-Goal coach teaches players that a "winner" makes maximum effort, continues to learn and improve, and is not stopped by mistakes or fear of mistakes.
• Fills Players' Emotional Tanks, refusing to motivate through fear, intimidation, or shame. Recognizing that a player's "Emotional Tank," like the gas tank of a car, must be full in order to go anywhere, the Double-Goal Coach provides a fuel mixed of five specific, truthful praises for every specific, constructive correction.
• Honors the Game by respecting ROOTS (Rules, Opponents, Officials, Teammates, Self).
