There Is No Off-season

By Matt West, Powerchalk

As we head into the fall and winter months, challenging weather and lack of light can hamper our ability to continue to work on our skills. Unfortunately, this is a critical time to make adjustments on lessons learned from the past season, in hopes of coming out of the gate strong in the spring. Further, many of you are playing fall ball, and therefore have a perceived advantage over those who have hung up the cleats for the year.

In either scenario, it is a great time to use motion analysis to enhance and accelerate your road to improvement. Little League Connect makes it simple and easy to make practice time more effective, or the off-season productive with little or no time on the field. As a total platform for coaches and players, Little League Connect is a system that gives coaches the ability to record, upload, analyze and share video of their players. Using the ChalkTalk Telestrator, coaches can provide valuable lessons to their players, by breaking down video clips of their mechanics in slow motion.

For those of you using the system, you know what I mean. Simple and easy to use, and highly effective in getting our young players a visual memory bank that they can draw insights from. Whether you use videos that you have uploaded to your Little League Connect locker, or some of our premium content, players learn five (5) times faster and retain lessons better when using video analysis.

That is why big league teams use our product. So when we think about the term "off-season", I say there is no such thing. If you haven't already done so, go get your free account at LittleLeagueConnect.org. You don't have to be a computer whiz or a baseball expert to take advantage of the system. Just sign up, log in and get to work. You and your young players will be glad you did.

For those of you just getting started, go to LittleLeagueConnect.org. Go to the sign up process by entering your name and e-mail, and you will be asked to fill out a very simple form. Once you have done that, you will receive a confirmation e-mail from us, and then you are ready to enter your locker. This is where you can upload and store your videos, as well as access the public videos and premium content. To use the telestrator to analyze and mark up a video, you can simply click on the ChalkTalk telestrator located on the top menu bar.

Additionally, you may find it helpful to watch some of the help videos located at the bottom left of the menu icons. There you can watch specific tutorials on every facet of the system.

One final thought. We have been hosting educational webinars every Thursday this year. May be a good time to go and review the videos that have been recorded. Hitting, pitching fielding, bunting, base running ... they are all in there. I have attached a link to one of those examples to get you started. Good luck, and thanks for support of Little League Connect.
