Positive Coaching Alliance Introduces Responsible Sports Season Evaluation

By David Jacobson, Positive Coaching Alliance

Establishing a season evaluation program is one of the most important steps you can take as a team or league to ensure you best serve your players and improve your organizational health. The ability to gather free web-based quantitative and qualitative data – such as that available through the Responsible Sports Season Evaluation tool – puts you on the cutting edge of not just Little League but all youth sports programs nationwide.

To live up to a shared concept of Little League and PCA – “Honoring the Game” – it is critical to assess your league’s commitment to that cultural value. Objective data gathered anonymously can help you make informed decisions on how to adjust, adapt and move toward the culture you want.

The Responsible Sports Season Evaluation tool provides coaches – as well as league administrators, officers and board members – key insights into areas of strength and areas of opportunity for development and improvement. The online tool eliminates paper; conducts automated survey sends with your custom questions, and sends your results right to you. It also delivers PCA’s recommendations on how to use the survey results to benefit your team or league.

The start of your Little League season is the perfect time to start your survey so you can develop your pre-season checklist and set expectations with parents and coaches, make adjustments mid-season and gather a full season’s worth of feedback to use in planning your next season.

Establishing an evaluation process:

  • Provides a forum for constructive, anonymous parent feedback
  • Helps to retain coaches, communicate mission statements, enhance facilities management, and improve safety around the diamond
  • Reinforces your Positive Coaching initiative.
