Mom of the Year and Good Sport Award Recognition
By Communications Division

Coaches, with the 2009 Little League season in full swing, what better time than now for you to participate in the Good Sport Award and Mom of the Year Award programs.

Each league has players and mothers who should be recognized for their commitment and participation in the Little League program. By participating in the Little League Awards Program you help demonstrate the benefits and values of volunteerism, family and sportsmanship.

The award information is listed below with links to the respective awards on the Little League web site.

Mom of the Year Award: The Mom of the Year recognizes mothers who have volunteered countless hours to their child's Little League program to ensure children have the opportunity to learn the value of teamwork, fair play, and discipline and enjoy the excitement and fun of summer days on a Little League field. http://www.littleleague.org/Learn_More/awards/momaward.htm

Good Sport Award: The Good Sport Award honors Little Leaguers who exhibit the Little League values of character, courage and loyalty. These children learn what it means to truly be part of a team and conduct themselves accordingly to the principles of fair play and good sportsmanship. http://www.littleleague.org/Learn_More/awards/goodsportaward.htm

The National recipients for each award and a guest will be invited to Little League International in Williamsport, Pa., and the 2009 Little League Baseball World Series. The recipients will be provided with round-trip transportation and hotel accommodations. These individuals will be honored at the annual Awards Breakfast and during pre-game ceremonies. To view previous award recipients information visit: http://www.littleleague.org/Learn_More/awards.htm

Please send your completed nomination forms directly to Little League International in Williamsport, Pennsylvania for nominees to be considered for national recognition. If you have any questions regarding the awards please contact me directly at srosenberg@LittleLeague.org.
