Baseball Camp in Bristol, Connecticut
The A. Bartlett Giamatti Little League Leadership Training Center in Bristol, the Eastern Regional Center for Little League Baseball, provides the perfect surroundings for a truly memorable camp experience.
Campers aged 10-12 sharpen their baseball skills while enjoying a wide range of other recreational and social activities. With emphasis on fundamentals, sportsmanship, and just plain fun, youngsters learn baseball as the game should be played. The one-week comprehensive program challenges campers to improve their batting and individual skills, experiment at new positions, and gain actual game experience as part of a camp team. Achievement awards, recognizing baseball and other recreational skills, are presented at the conclusion of camp. With activities including swimming, volleyball, basketball, and ping pong, the Bristol Baseball Camp provides a well-rounded total camp experience. Youngsters are also encouraged to develop their self-confidence and leadership skills amid newfound friends.
Staff and Facilities
Competent instructors and counselors, all with baseball backgrounds, understand and relate to the needs of youngsters. Qualified instructional staff is selected from high school and college personnel. The Giamatti Center provides the latest training aids, pitching machines, and instructional techniques. All equipment is approved by Little League Baseball to provide maximum safety and permit the finest instruction for the Little League age camper. Campers utilize the Giamatti Center, regulation-size playing fields, and more. An attractive, spacious, 186-bed dormitory will serve as housing for the youngsters, and healthy meals will be prepared daily by seasoned cooks. A modern medical facility is located within the dormitory, and the administration offices for Little League Baseball's Eastern Region staff are adjacent to the dormitory. The Camp Canteen, which offers youngsters refreshments, magazines, and souvenirs, will be open daily after the completion of planned schedules. Performance/compatibility evaluations for each camper will be given to parents after each camp session.
Stirrat Camp Scholarship
Round trip transportation and tuition costs to the closest Little League Baseball Camp are available to the winner of the annual Robert H. Stirrat Baseball Camp Scholarship. The Scholarship competition is open to all boys and girls of Baseball camp age, 10-12. Youngsters should prepare an essay of 100 words or less based upon their impressions of and the benefits of Little League Baseball. Box 3485 Williamsport, PA 17701 All Stirrat Camp Scholarship entries must be received by April 30, 2010 deadline.
Enrollment
The total camp fee is $395.00 for each one week session. A non-refundable deposit of $100 must accompany application with the balance payable in full by June 1. Enrollment is limited to assure each youngster maximum instruction and counseling. Since applications are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis, early registration is urged. Upon receipt of application, registrants will be mailed a complete list of "needed items," camp guidelines, and directions to the Bristol Camp. Also included is a medical form to be completed by the camper's family physician. At the request of parents, when two friends attend camp, efforts will be made to house the youngsters together. Since approval depends on registration load, early registration is urged. Parents are invited to visit the Giamatti Center in advance of the scheduled session. Please feel free to contact the Little League Office. Upon arrival at camp, each youngster is issued a cap and T-shirt and assigned to a team for regularly scheduled games. The Little League Camp Program is open to all children from 10 to 12 regardless of race, color, creed, or national origin.
