Reason 6: Little League Saves You Money
6.Little League Saves You Money
Most leagues can become a charter member and insure their teams through Little League for an average cost of about $5 per player – less than what most programs were previously paying for their local insurance policy. A local league has the option to incorporate as a not-for-profit organization and receive tax exempt status. Other costs associated with operating a chartered Little League are budgeted through each league’s fundraising efforts.
Little League provides each league with 125 free background checks and an unlimited number of checks at $1 per check if the checks are conducted through LexisNexis. During the tournament season, some of the costs related to a team’s travel expenses are reimbursed to the local league at $1 for each mile traveled when the team advances past the district level. Rule books and other printed material produced by Little League are available to each league on an annual basis free of charge.
For leagues interested in seeking grants, Little League provides those options through the Little League Urban Initiative and the Little League Challenger Division.
