Reason 1: Training and Education
1.Training and Education
Many factors contribute to a positive youth sports experience. Much of the fun of playing comes from a coach’s ability and confidence on the field and in the dugout. Training and education are the backbone of a successful program and Little League offers a vast assortment of educational materials to volunteer coaches, highlighted by its free online Manager and Coach Resource Center. This service is available free of charge to all of our chartered leagues, at: www.LittleLeagueCoach.org.
Each year, clinics and seminars for managers, coaches and league officials are offered at Little League International in South Williamsport, Pa., at its five regional centers in the United States, and many other locations across the United States and abroad.
Leagues also could not function without umpires, and Little League keeps volunteer umpires up to date through its Umpire Registry and now launched online umpire training website, http://www.LittleLeagueUmpire.org. By joining the registry, Little League umpires can be sure that they have the latest rulebooks and other training materials.
