Purpose

The policy identifies "LOCAL" Little League's position on fundraising practices and documents the standards expected in raising funds from the community.

Definitions

The organized activity of soliciting and collecting money for support of the local leagues operations, field maintenance, and equipment needs. It includes requests for cash, donation of goods, the sale of goods, auctions, etc., the proceeds of which are applied toward activities noted above.

Oversight

This policy should be reviewed and approved by the local league Board of Directors with each new season. This will ensure the policy is kept up to date with fundraising standards as outlined in the Little League International Operating Manual as well as local league established procedures.

Policy

Fundraising activities serve at least two important purposes beside the obvious one of raising needed money for the local league. First, it highlights the specific mission and needs of the league raising the funds. Second, it helps build community within the league. LOCAL Little League supports fundraising activities that:

• Are consistent with the core values of the Little League program and must clearly benefit the league.
• Generate funding to continue, enhance or extend projects and programs, facilities and services of the league.
• Funds collected in the name of the league are used solely for league purposes.

Monitoring and Reporting Responsibilities

The Sponsorship/Fundraising Manager is typically responsible for:

• Solicitation and procurement of local sponsorships
• Collection and review of sponsorship/fundraising opportunities
• Organization and implementation of approved fundraising activities
• Coordinate participation in fundraising activities
• Maintaining details of sponsorship/fundraising income and expenditures

General Procedures/Standards

The league will adhere to the following standards:

• Little League Regulation XIII(b) states: "Solicitation for fundraising by Little League (Majors) Division, Minor League, Tee Ball, Intermediate (50/70), Junior League, Senior or Big League players in or out of uniform is prohibited, except for one fundraising project annually under adult supervision.
• All fundraising activities should have approval of the Board.
• Fundraising activities will comply with all relevant laws.
• Communications regarding the fundraising activity shall clearly identify the league, be accurate and non-deceptive.
• Fundraising activity should not occur if it will expose the league to financial risk.
• Fundraising activity should not occur if it may be detrimental to the good name or community standing of the league.
