Educate Parents on the Little League Program

Educating the Little League parent is an important step in creating a positive environment for the players in the local league. Creating opportunities for parent education helps to forge a tighter program offering and gain understanding on league operations.

Little League recommends holding a parents meeting prior to the start of the season to review league policies, explain specific rules (e.g., the league's draft policy) and to set the tone for the season. This meeting could also serve to educate parents who may serve in a volunteer capacity on key responsibilities.

Several collateral materials, articles and resources are available through Little League. Included in this packet are two such pieces.

  • Tips for Little League Parents: Provides advice on ways that parents can get involved in the Little League program and create a positive experience for their child. Make copies of this document and distribute at your league's registration or parents meetings. You can also repost to your web site.
  • "Call to Action" Speech for Parents: This describes the mission of the Little League program and can be used to reinforce to parents the importance of each child having a positive experience. It can also be repurposed.
