ASAP Plan Deadline is March 13 for D.A.s: ASAP plans MUST be received and approved on or before March 13 to receive the district incentive. Any leagues that want to host tournaments above the district level (Section, State, Division, Region or World Series) must have an ASAP plan that Little League International approves prior to the D.A. or Tournament Director assigning host leagues and fields. Leagues can still submit plans for consideration after the April 1 deadline, however, they will not be eligible for the awards program. All 15 requirements must be met including submitting coaches, managers, and player registration data electronically through the Little League Data Center. Click here for more information.

Save on Shipping Tournament Banners for a Limited Time: District Administrators will save $8 off the cost of shipping when you purchase more than five tournament banners through the Little League® online store. Valid through Sunday, March 9, 2014. Use Promo Code: BannerShipping

Important Note About Regulation VI, Note 3 Exception: In the 2014 Official Regulations and Playing Rules, “Regulation VI Note 3 Exception” from the 2013 Official Regulations and Playing Rules was inadvertently eliminated. The note references the exception for games that are suspended with less than one (1) inning completed. The note remains in effect for 2014. In the event that the first inning is not completed, all records including pitching records, batting records, etc. shall be disregarded.

2014 Little League® Awards Program: Please consider nominating individuals from your district or local league for the 2014 Little League® Awards Program. By recognizing Little League members, you help demonstrate the benefits and values of volunteerism, family and sportsmanship. The nomination form for each individual award is available on the Forms and Publications page in the Awards section.

National Background Checks: Per Little League® Regulation I (c) 8 and 9, a national check of the sex offender registries in all 50 states must be done on any individual in the local league program who provides regular service and/or has regular access to players or teams. By using First Advantage, leagues have access to an annual database of 350 million individual criminal records. Background checks are required for the following positions: managers, coaches, practice coaches, Board of Director members, umpires and others, including equipment manager, field maintenance staff, scorekeeper(s), announcer(s), general volunteers, concession workers and team parents. There may be other positions within a league or district that provide regular service and/or have regular access to players or teams that meet this criteria. Little League International pays for the first 125 background checks conducted by each league. The cost after the first 125 checks is only $1. Please note, the Mississippi Sex Offender registry data is no longer included in the First Advantage database. A separate Mississippi State Sex Offender registry search must be conducted. This can be done by accessing the state website: http://state.sor.dps.ms.gov/

Important Resources for the Managers and Coaches in Your District: With seasons getting underway in most of our leagues, it’s a great time to remind your leagues about the online resources and tools available for their volunteers. Managers and coaches can take advantage of the Coaches Resource Center and materials from the Positive Coaching Alliance. Softball coaches are encouraged to check out the newly developed Softball Excellence Coaching Courses for Little League Softball®.

Is there a Major League Baseball club in your district? Throughout the 2014 Major League Baseball season, many Major League clubs around the United States and Canada may celebrate Little League® and Youth Baseball and Softball Days to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of Little League. These events will celebrate Little League Baseball and Softball in their community. Major League Baseball will also honor Little League’s Diamond Anniversary during MLB All-Star Week this summer in Minneapolis, Minn. Learn more about Little League Days at MLB Parks.

Make sure League Presidents in your district know about GameChanger: Thousands of Little League® Baseball and Softball teams relied on GameChanger for an enhanced team experience last year. Leagues, tournaments, and teams can use the award-winning GameChanger software for free. Click here.
