D.A. Bulletin - January

JANUARY 2014 | ARCHIVE | SIGN-UP

26th Little League® International Congress: The 26th Little League International Congress will convene April 4-7 in Minneapolis, Minn. Registration is now open and can be completed here. A link to the Congress agenda was delivered via email to D.A.s on December 23. Also, we encourage all D.A.s to make their travel arrangements by Feb. 1. Additional information on the Congress is available here.

Little League® Big Legacy Project: Please, encourage your leagues to be a part of our 75th Anniversary mosaic. It’s simple to upload a photo and/or memory here. The finished mosaic will be revealed on June 6, 2014. For every photo or memory uploaded, Little League International will donate $1 to Pitch In For Baseball, a 501c (3) organization – dedicated to providing new and gently used baseball and softball youth equipment to participants.

2014 Little League® Awards Program: Please consider nominating individuals from your district or local league for the 2014 Little League® Awards Program. By recognizing Little League members, you help demonstrate the benefits and values of volunteerism, family and sportsmanship. The 2014 nomination form will be available online soon.

Chartering and Marketing Toolkit: A survey was recently sent to League Presidents asking for feedback on the 2014 Chartering and Marketing Toolkit. Please, follow up with your League Presidents and encourage them to complete the survey and provide valuable feedback.

Chartering and Insurance Reminders: Please remind all local leagues that their 2013 Insurance coverage ended on 12/31/13. Submission of a 2014 charter application prior to the end of the year ensured that the league did not have a break in insurance coverage. It is important to note that without proper insurance coverage, the league and its officials will not be properly covered for any league activities. Liability and Accident Insurance will not be in force for the 2014 season until the league has chartered and paid their premiums in full.

Coaches Toolkit: The Little League® Baseball and Softball Coaches Toolkit provides separate packages for Little League Baseball® and Little League Softball®, which include sport-specific training manuals, videos and other materials that will help both the novice and experienced coach.

2014 ASAP Information: The 2014 A Safety Awareness Program (ASAP) materials are currently available online at LittleLeague.org. Please, review the information on the League Player Registration Data or Player Roster Data and Coach and Manager Data through the Little League® Data Center per Regulation IVg. The deadline for all leagues to complete this process is April 1, 2014.

Game Site Selection for Tournament Play: If your district intends to host any Little League® International Tournament games above the district level, by Little League Tournament rule, the host league must have an approved A Safety Awareness Program (ASAP) plan. Also remember that ASAP plans must be implemented before the season starts in order to qualify as an approved plan for the current year.

Teenage Divisions and Softball Special Games: Little League® International has a series of guidelines to help districts and leagues organize, coordinate and operate special games involving Little League teams in all divisions of play. Softball Special Games guidelines can be found here.

Online Boundary Maps: Your leagues can create their boundary maps and submit them to you right from their eteamz website. Once you receive and approve them, you simply forward an email to your regional office for final approval. After receiving approval from the regional office, the boundary map will go live on the leagues public website, making it easier for current and new players to find and register for their local league. If you or your leagues have questions, boundary map FAQs can help. Don’t have an eteamz website for your district but interested in getting one? Visit eteamz.com to learn more.

This District Staff Bulletin is sent monthly to District Administrators and Assistant District Administrators via e-mail.
