D.A. Bulletin - December

Explanation of the New Age Determination Date: The Little League® Board of Directors, on Nov. 14, approved a new transition plan for players born after April 30, 2006. Players born before May 1, 2006 will not be impacted by this change. Answers to some of the frequently asked questions are available here. These updates will be included in the 2015 Little League Rules and Regulations for Baseball Divisions. It is strongly encouraged that you schedule to meet with your league presidents to review the new Little League Baseball® and Little League Softball® rules and regulations that will be in place for the 2015 season. The significant changes approved in April, during the 26th Little League International Congress, are available for review.

2015 World Series Dates Announced: The 2015 World Series dates for all nine Little League® World Series were approved by the Little League International Board of Directors during its November meeting. Also during the meeting three new field directors began their four-year terms.

Chartering for the 2015 Season: The 2015 league charter applications have been mailed to local leagues as part of this year’s Chartering and Marketing Toolkit. If your leagues’ packets were mailed to you, please, confirm their receipt by completing and submitting the signature form signed by all of the league presidents in your district. Those leagues wishing to use the online option to charter may do so. Follow up with the leagues in your district, and offer any assistance necessary to fully and accurately complete the application forms. More information on chartering is available online. Please, contact Dan Velte (dvelte@LittleLeague.org; or 570-326-1921; ext. 2223) with any questions.

Background Checks/Insurance Claims: If requested to do so by a local league, all local league volunteers must provide their Social Security Number when completing their 2015 Little League® volunteer application, which is available online. If an individual has volunteered previously in a local league, a returning volunteer application can be used. An individual’s Social Security Number is required for all background checks conducted through First Advantage, and is also required for all 2015 insurance claims, according to federal law. Regardless of whether the claimant is a child or adult, his/her Social Security Number will be required for processing. For more information on background checks watch a brief video presentation here.

2015 ASAP Information: The 2015 A Safety Awareness Program (ASAP) materials are currently available online at LittleLeague.org. Please, review the information on the League Player Registration Data or Player Roster Data and Coach and Manager Data through the Little League® Data Center per Regulation IVg. The deadline for all leagues to complete this process is April 1, 2015. Local leagues and districts can now review their ASAP plans on file for the past three years by logging on to the Little League® Data Center.
