2013 Little League Awards Program: June 1 is the deadline for nominations for the 2013 Little League Awards Program. Information on the respective awards, nomination forms for the awards and highlights of past recipients are available here. Send your completed nomination forms directly to Little League International in South Williamsport, Pa. National Background Checks: Per Little League Regulation I (c) 8 and 9, a national check of the sex offender registries in all 50 states must be done on each volunteer with "repetitive access" to children. By using Lexis Nexis, the regulation requirement is met, and leagues also have access to an annual database of 270 million individual criminal records. Background checks are required for:
- Coaches - Practice Coaches - Board Members - Umpires - Misc. positions
Chartering and Marketing Toolkit: With many leagues currently registering players and beginning to play games, this is the time to direct leagues to the new Chartering and Marketing Toolkit Resource Page on the Little League website. The resource page provides leagues with information on how to enhance the experience for families, and provides input for board members throughout the season.
2013 ASAP Information: It's March, and in many places the 2013 Little League season has begun. Now is the time to do all you can to ensure the safety and well-being of your Little Leaguers. To assist in accomplishing your safety goals, here are some dates to keep in mind.
Safety Plan Deadlines and Incentives
Registration Information: Districts should strongly encourage local leagues to submit regular season player registration/roster information and coach/manager data through the Little League Data Center by April 1, 2013 in accordance with the impending ASAP regulation that will be mandatory for the 2014 season. Little League Coach and Umpire Resource Centers: Information and training items are continually being updated to the Little League Coach Resource Center. Coaches Toolkit: The Little League Baseball and Softball Coaches Toolkit provides separate packages for Little League Baseball and Little League Softball, which include sport-specific training manuals, videos and other materials that will help both the novice and experienced coach. 2013 Little League Rulebooks Apps: The 2013 Little League Rulebook Apps provide all of the Little League rules for Baseball, Softball, and Challenger division with an easy to navigate interface including search capabilities and bookmark functionality.
