D.A. Bulletin - December

26th Little League® International Congress: Your visit to Minneapolis, Minn., for the 2014 International Congress is only a few months away! Please be sure you begin to make travel arrangements. Additional information will be available online in January.

Review Rules and Regulations: Schedule to meet with league presidents to review the new Little League Baseball® and Little League Softball® rules and regulations that will be in place for the 2014 season. The significant changes are available for review.

Little League® 75th Anniversary Guide: The Little League® 75th Anniversary Celebration Guide provides direction on how local leagues and districts can celebrate the diamond anniversary of Little League®. We encourage all D.A.s to speak with their local leagues about these opportunities and ask that they be made aware of the information available at LittleLeagueToolkit.org.

Get Technology Questions Answered for Your Leagues: Help your leagues by getting more information about the technology available to make your leagues run better. Little League® has partnered with ACTIVE Network to provide tools that specifically address the needs of your leagues, including online registration, online league management software and self-setup websites.

Background Checks/Insurance Claims: If requested to do so by the local league, all local league volunteers must provide their Social Security Number when completing their 2014 Little League® volunteer application, which is available online. An individual’s Social Security Number is required for all background checks conducted through First Advantage. An individual’s Social Security Number also is required for all 2014 insurance claims, according to federal law. Regardless of whether the claimant is a child or adult, his/her Social Security Number will be required for processing. For more information on background checks watch a brief video presentation here.

2014 ASAP Information: The 2014 A Safety Awareness Program (ASAP) materials are currently available at LittleLeague.org. Please, review the information on the League Player Registration Data or Player Roster Data and Coach and Manager Data through the Little League® Data Center per Regulation IVg. The deadline for all leagues to complete this process is April 1, 2014.

Chartering for 2014: The 2014 league charter applications have been mailed as part of the annual Chartering and Marketing Toolkit. For talking points about the Chartering and Marketing Toolkit click here. If your leagues’ packets were mailed to you, please, confirm their receipt by completing and submitting the signature form signed by all league presidents. Those leagues wishing to use the online option to charter may do so. Follow up with the leagues in your district, and offer any assistance necessary to fully and accurately complete the application forms. More information on chartering is available online. Please, contact Dan Velte (dvelte@LittleLeague.org; or 570-326-1921; ext. 2223) with any questions.

This District Staff Bulletin is sent monthly to District Administrators and Assistant District Administrators via e-mail.
