District Staff Bulletin - September 2012
Congratulations! The success and excitement enjoyed during the 2012 tournament season is a credit to the outstanding effort put forth by each district staff member. The tournament committee, along with the entire staff at Little League International, acknowledges and appreciates your commitment to the Little League program.
NEW! Charter and Registration Toolkit: This completely new packet of resources includes not only league charter application and insurance information, but also valuable tools and resources to help your leagues market to prospective players and volunteers. To ensure the Charter and Registration Toolkit is received by the current league president, please follow-up with all leagues in your district to confirm that they have updated league officer information. Look for updates and additional information on this great new tool!
In order to receive this bevvy of information, it is imperative that the current mailing address for your League Presidents and other League Officers be on file with Little League no later than September 30, 2012. Please encourage your leagues to update their information in the Data Center today
2012 Tournament Mileage Reporting: The deadline for submitting tournament mileage reports is Sept. 15. The form is available here.
Help Your League Officers Better Manage Their Season: Managing registrations and administrative tasks can be a daunting part of a League Officer's role. As the Official Online League Management Provider of Little League®, ACTIVE Network can help your leagues get registrations processed effortlessly online, manage all of the data and reporting that comes with running a league, and build stronger relationships with the players, parents and volunteers through enhanced email tools and eteamz websites. As a District Administrator, League Officers look to you and your District staff for guidance not only on Little League rules and regulations, but also on ways to help run their league more efficiently. ACTIVE Network is the only online league management provider that Little League International recommends to our leagues – please feel free to pass along this information
Potential New Leagues: District Administrators (DAs) and assistants (ADAs) receiving inquiries from potential new leagues are asked to contact Dan Velte, Director of League Development, at: 570-326-1921, ext 223; e-mail: dvelte@LittleLeague.org; or Sam Ranck, League Development Manager and Director of the Challenger Division, at: 570-326-1921, ext. 254; e-mail sranck@LittleLeague.org.
Assessment of Leagues: DAs and ADAs should begin to verify the intentions of local leagues to charter for 2013 and encourage chartering teams in additional divisions. DAs are to contact Little League International in the event that previously chartered leagues do not intend to charter for 2013. The 2013 charter application form will be mailed later this fall.
Meetings with Leagues: District Administrators and assistants should be scheduling at least one meeting with each league in the district this fall. These meetings can help to prevent problems around election time, and can help lay the groundwork for a successful season in 2013. A second meeting later in the fall can be used to help share some of the best ideas that come out of the first meeting, so all the leagues in the district can learn what works best.
Local League Elections: Once local league elections are completed, changes in league officers are to be reported to Little League International through the Little League Data Center.
Training and Development: A schedule of training and education clinics will be posted on the Little League website (www.LittleLeague.org) later this fall. Additional listings will include the 2012-13 Little League Road Show series, Michele Smith Softball coach and manager clinics, and Baseball Factory dates.
Consider Hilton HHonors for Travel: As a proud sponsor of Little League Baseball and Softball, Hilton HHonors is committed to supporting Little League coaches, players, officials, family and friends.
