District-wide Teenage Programs: Big League baseball and softball, and Senior League softball can be chartered and operated on a district-wide basis. Encourage local high school baseball and softball programs to consider having age-appropriate players participate in these programs.
District Administrator Elections: Any District Administrator (DA) who is up for election in June 2011 is reminded to follow the proper procedures for filing for re-election and also is asked to contact his/her local leagues to inform them that an election will be held. The DA election schedule by district is available here: http://www.littleleague.org/districtadmins/electioninfo.htm Additional information regarding the DA election process will be distributed soon.
Background Checks: All managers and coaches need to be screened through a background check process prior to assuming their duties for the 2011 season. Little League International recommends using: http://LittleLeague.lexisnexis.com. Additional members also need to be screened as outlined in Regulation I(c) 8 & 9. As a reminder, each league is afforded 125 free background checks and every subsequent check is done at a cost of $1 per check. Eligibility Waiver Deadline: All waiver requests involving player eligibility must be processed by the district and respective regional offices, and acted upon by the Little League International Charter Committee in South Williamsport, no later than June 8, 2011 and prior to said player participating in the local Little League program.
All waivers requests (for the league, team, player, manager, and/or coach) of any kind must be submitted and approved not later than June 8, 2011. All regular season team rosters must be submitted to Little League International in accordance with the requirements outlined in Regulation IV (g), not later than June 8, 2011.
A Safety Awareness (ASAP) Plans: Local league plans must be postmarked by May 1; please make sure the ASAP registration is submitted with the plan which identifies where the 13 minimum requirements are located in the plan.
