Rule Changes:The 25th Little League International Congress convened last month in Lexington, Ky., and 17 items on the agenda received the necessary votes for inclusion in Little League's rules and regulations. Chartering Follow-up: Confirm the charter status of all local Little Leagues by logging on to Little League Data Center: http://datacenter.activeteamsports.com/llb/index.jsp? Contact all leagues that, to date, have not chartered for 2010. Contact the League Development Department at Little League International for assistance with leagues that have not chartered.Direct any questions to Dan Velte, Director of League Development, at: 570-326-1921, ext. 223; or dvelte@LittleLeague.org.

First-Year Leagues: Contact new leagues and provide any assistance necessary regarding tournament enrollment and tournament operations. Review operation procedures and guidelines with league presidents to aid in their league's transition into the program and preparation for tournament play.

District Administrator Elections: Any District Administrator (DA) who is up for election in June 2010 is reminded to follow the proper procedures for filing for re-election and also is asked to contact his/her local leagues to inform them that an election will be held. The DA election schedule by district is available here: http://www.littleleague.org/Assets/forms_pubs/DAElectionSchedule-2010.pdf. Additional information regarding the DA election process will be distributed soon.

Background Checks: All managers and coaches need to be screened through a background check process prior to assuming their duties for the 2010 season. Little League International recommends using: http://LittleLeague.lexisnexis.com. Additional members also need to be screened as outlined in Regulation I(c) 8 & 9. As a reminder, each league is afforded 125 free background checks and every subsequent check is done at a cost of $1 per check. Eligibility Waiver Deadline: All waiver requests involving player eligibility must be processed by the district and respective regional offices, and acted upon by the Little League International Charter Committee in South Williamsport, no later than June 8, 2010 and prior to said player participating in the local Little League program.

All waivers requests (for the league, team, player, manager, and/or coach) of any kind must be submitted and approved not later than June 8, 2010. All regular season team rosters must be submitted to Little League International in accordance with the requirements outlined in Regulation IV (g), not later than June 8, 2010.

A Safety Awareness (ASAP) Plans: Local league plans must be postmarked by May 1; please make sure the ASAP registration is submitted with the plan which identifies where the 13 minimum requirements are located in the plan.
