District Staff Bulletin - November 2009

Leagues on "hold" or "non-compliance" lists:  Before the 2010 chartering process can be completed, leagues on regional "hold" or "non-compliance" lists must address the reason(s) for being placed in these lists. District staff should contact these leagues and provide any necessary assistance.

Charter Completion: All 2010 charter applications have been distributed. Follow up with the leagues in your district and offer any assistance necessary to fully and accurately complete the application forms. Later this month, Little League International expects to make chartering available through an on-line service, at: www.LittleLeague.org. Additional details and information will be made provided in the coming days.

Non-Affiliated Areas and New League Inquiries: Within a district there may be areas that are not currently serviced by a Little League program. District staffs are strongly encouraged to identify these areas, and make a concerted effort to reach out to these areas in an attempt to educate the residents regarding the Little League program. If communities or neighborhoods have expressed interest in chartering a Little League program, or adding divisions to their current programs, contact the Little League International League Development Department - Dan Velte, Director of League Development and Affiliation, dvelte@LittleLeague.org; or Sam Ranck, League Development Manager, sranck@LittleLeague.org.

Air Travel for 2010 International Congress: Little League will work with AAA North Penn to coordinate Congress airline reservations. The district staff tickets purchased through AAA North Penn will be direct billed to Little League International. Additional spouse/guest tickets may be purchased by providing AAA North Penn with a personal credit card.
To begin the airline reservation process, please complete the form found here: http://www.littleleague.org/AssetFactory.aspx?vid=164498, or call AAA North Penn, at: 1-800-377-4222 to book your flights. You may book you own airline reservations but will need to provide Little League with a receipt for reimbursement consideration.

League Documentation: Confirm all league boundary maps are current and accurate, and adjustments to constitutions and league by-laws are properly recorded for the 2010 season. A current and accurate map is one that is based on the boundaries as of April 23, 2007, or as noted on a map amended since that date, and that is accepted by and on file at the Regional Headquarters.

Meeting with NPF Owners: Little League International staff members Sara Thompson and Nick Caringi traveled to Nashville, Tenn., to present the Little League Softball's achievements in the first year of Little League International's partnership with National Professional Fastpitch softball. A story on the visit is available here: http://www.littleleague.org/media/newsarchive/2009/Sep-Dec/LLInternationalAttendsNPFOwnersMeeting.htm

Officer Changes: District staffs are appointed annually and need to be updated via the Little League data center, at: http://datacenter.activeteamsports.com/llb/index.jsp? Also, instruct local leagues to follow the similar procedure by updating its officers through the data center.

Little League Clinics and Road Shows: A listing of Little League clinics is available here: http://www.littleleague.org/leagueofficers/clinics.htm. If a Little League Road Show is scheduled in your area, promote that information to local leagues in the district. A list of scheduled Road Shows is available here: http://www.littleleague.org/districtadmins/roadshows.htm.
