Chartering Follow-up: Confirm the charter status of all local Little Leagues by logging on to Little League Data Center: http://datacenter.activeteamsports.com/llb/index.jsp? Contact all leagues that, to date, have not chartered for 2009. Contact the League Development Department at Little League International for assistance with leagues that have not chartered.Direct any questions to Dan Velte, Director of League Development, at: 570-326-1921, ext. 223; or dvelte@LittleLeague.org.

First-Year Leagues: Contact new leagues and provide any assistance necessary regarding tournament enrollment and tournament operations. Review operation procedures and guidelines with league presidents to aid in their league's transition into the program and preparation for tournament play.

Boundary Maps: Confirm all league boundary maps are current, accurate, and properly recorded for the 2009 season. A current and accurate map is one that is based on the boundaries as of April 23, 2007, or as noted on a map amended since that date. A league's map must be accepted by, and on file at, the Regional Headquarters to be considered "official." Maps must be on file for leagues to be eligible for tournament play.

Background Checks: All managers and coaches need to be screened through a background check process prior to assuming their duties for the 2009 season. Little League International recommends using: http://littleleague.choicepoint.com/. As a reminder, each league is afforded 125 free background checks and every subsequent check is done at a cost of $1 per check. The ChoicePoint Help Line phone number is: 866-399-6647; Option 4.

Eligibility Waiver Deadline: All waiver requests involving player eligibility must be processed by the district and respective regional offices, and acted upon by the Little League International Charter Committee in Williamsport, no later than June 9, 2009 and prior to said player participating in the local Little League program.

All waivers requests (for the league, team, player, manager, and/or coach) of any kind must be submitted and approved not later than June 9, 2009. All regular season team rosters must be submitted to Little League International in accordance with the requirements outlined in Regulation IV (g), not later than June 9, 2009.

A Safety Awareness (ASAP) Plans: Local league plans must be postmarked by May 1; the District requirement is for plans to be in and approved by April 1. Districts achieving 80 percent or better of their leagues submitting a qualify safety plan will earn a $350 credit. Districts with 60-79 percent of their leagues submitting a qualified safety plan will earn a $150 credit.

Tournament Fees: For each local league wishing to enter a team in the 2009 Little League International Tournament, the fee has been increased from $75 to $100 per team. This is the first increase in the tournament participation fee since the 1999 season. As a reminder, all the tournament fees collected are placed in a restricted account, to be used to operate the International Tournament, which includes reimbursement of some travel expenses for local leagues.
