District Administrator Bulletin – October 2008

Financial Reporting to Leagues: Now is the appropriate time for District Administrators to review the district financial report and begin to organize a budget for the 2009 regular season and postseason.

Assembly of District Staff: Assistant District Administrators (ADAs) annually serve at the pleasure of the District Administrator (DA). Now is the time for District Administrators to appoint or re-appoint ADAs for the 2009 season. Once appointments have been made, District Administrators are to provide an update to Little League International on the changes to district staff.

Meetings with Leagues: District Administrators should be scheduling at least one meeting with each league in the district this fall. These meetings can help to prevent problems around election time, and can help lay the groundwork for a successful season in 2009. ... A second meeting later in the fall can be used to help share some of the best ideas that come out of the first meeting, so all the leagues in the district can learn what works best.

Charter Committee Cases: The Little League International Charter Committee has begun operations for the coming season. As always, if a league wishes to apply for a waiver of any Rule or Regulation, a process is in place for making such a request. The first step is for the local league Board of Directors to vote on requesting the waiver, then for the District Administrator to provide his/her input. This input is important to the Charter Committee in making its decision, but it is not the deciding factor. All materials are then provided to the appropriate Regional Office. Decisions rendered by the Charter Committee are communicated to the league and DA.

Remote Clinic Form: If any district would like to host a clinic, Little League International can help publicize it. Just go here www.littleleague.org/districtadmins/RemoteClinic.htm (or paste the text into your browser) to fill out and submit the form. Information on dates and locations for upcoming District Administrator training sessions can be found here: www.littleleague.org/leagueofficers/clinics.htm
