Many of the players on the rosters of the Kansas City Royals and the San Francisco Giants got their starts on Little League fields, and one of those teams will be claim the Commissioner’s Trophy.

You can talk about the records that Derek Jeter holds. You can talk about his championships and the success of the teams he’s been a part of. You can talk about his textbook inside-out swing and his spectacular jump-throws to first. And while all those have contributed to Derek Jeter’s success and popularity, the continual youthful enthusiasm for the game of baseball may be his most impressive trait – a trait that has followed him from Westwood Little League in Kalamazoo, Mich., all the way to the New York Yankees. When Mr. Jeter announced his retirement on February 12, 2014, the sports world started paying homage to perhaps the most iconic baseball player of his generation.

Art Mikelsen, the first Little League® volunteer to serve more than 50 years as a District Administrator, passed away on August 30. He was 90.
llbws152Asia-Pacific wins Little League Baseball® World Series, defeats Great Lakes 8-4

Dong Wan Sin went 2-3 and hit a home run, helping Asia-Pacific to an 8-4 victory over Great Lakes on Sunday at Lamade. He singled in the third inning and homered in the fifth inning. Hae Chan Choi got the win in relief for Asia-Pacific. Choi pitched four innings and allowed three runs.

In recognition of Little League’s 75th Anniversary, baseball and softball equipment will be provided to eight local Little League programs thanks to the Big Legacy Project donations
slbbwsSouthwest wins Senior League Baseball World Series, defeats Latin America 7-4 in Championship

Southwest beat Latin America 7-4 in seven innings on Saturday at Bangor, Maine behind John Doxakis, who went 2-4. He doubled in the first inning and singled in the second inning. Joe Gobillot got the win for Southwest. He allowed four runs over 5 1/3 innings. Gobillot struck out six, walked four and gave up four hits.

Asia-Pacific beat Southwest on Saturday 9-1 at Taylor, MI in seven innings. Asia-Pacific scored three runs in the seventh on Asia-Pacific scored in the seventh on an RBI single by Pei-Fong Dai, an RBI single by Yen-An Lin, and an RBI single by Li-Heng Chen.
