Dana Rowley’s pitching led South Tampa Little League to a 10-1 victory over the host team, Kirkland National/American Little League, Saturday evening at Everest Park in Kirkland, Wash. The Southeast Region Champion’s victory is the fifth Junior League Softball World Series Championship banner in the tournament’s 15-year history.

Kenny Mayne, sports journalist for ESPN, was in attendance to see the championship matchup. He even helped out by introducing the players, adding excitement to the game for all in attendance.

Rowley struck out 10 batters and allowed only one run and four hits in seven innings of play, helping South Tampa clinch the championship title.

South Tampa’s Kayla McGory racked up three RBI on four hits. She doubled in the third inning and singled in the first, fourth and fifth innings. South Tampa’s offense was on fire tonight, with Brendea Rafferty and Haley Morrell each having two hits. The team had 11 hits in total.
