Little League Baseball World Series 2013

Musashi Fuchu Little League from Tokyo, Japan is coming to South Williamsport.

On Sunday, June 7, the Musashi Fuchu Little League from Tokyo, Japan won the Japan Region Tournament in their home city, topping Miyagino Little League from Sendai City, 11-6, in the championship game. This is the third time that Musashi Fuchu Little League will send their Little Leaguers® to the Little League Baseball World Series. Their first appearance was in 2000, where they advanced to the International Bracket championship game, losing to the eventual Little League Baseball World Series Champions from Venezuela. In 2003, the team went all the way, winning the Little League Baseball World Series Championship Banner after defeating East Boyton Beach Little League, 10-1, in the finals.

It is the second year in a row that a team from Tokyo advances to South Williamsport. Last year, Kitasuna Little League won the 2012 Little League Baseball World Series in dramatic fashion, hitting five home runs in the championship game, defeating the team from Goodlettsville, Tenn.

“Japan is our defending Little League Baseball World Series champion, and it’s great to have yet another team from Tokyo compete in this year’s series,” said Patrick Wilson, Little League Baseball and Softball Senior Vice President and International Tournament Director.
