Little League® Baseball and Softball will hold its Urban Initiative Central Region Jamboree in Indianapolis, Ind. at the Douglass Little League and the Little League Central Region Complexes on June 7-9.

One of nine Urban Initiative Jamborees being held throughout the United States this spring, participants in the Central Region Jamboree will take part in a weekend of games and other special events at no cost to their local league.

“We see some very competitive, exciting games at the Little League Central Region Complex during the tournament season, and this Jamboree gives more Little Leaguers® the chance to feel that excitement,” said Nina Johnson, Little League Central Region Director. “We are thrilled to host these players at our Indianapolis facilities and give them the chance to compete against their peers from throughout the region.”

At the end of the weekend, one team will win the championship banner. Games begin at 6 p.m. on Friday, June 7 at the Central Region Complex and Douglass Little League and resume on Saturday, June 8 at 9 a.m. A dinner for all Jamboree teams will take place at 7 p.m. at the Central Region Complex. The Championship Game is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Sunday, June 8 at the Central Region Complex. Learn more about this year’s Urban Initiative Jamborees.

“Each year, we see more and more participation in our Urban Initiative Jamborees,” said Demiko Ervin, Little League Urban Initiative Program Director. “They are the perfect venue to provide a quality Little League experience to children who may never get an opportunity to play at the tournament level.”

Established in 1999, the Little League Urban Initiative provides financial and educational assistance to local leagues in order to give all children, even those in disadvantaged neighborhoods, a chance to play baseball and softball. The Little League Urban Initiative has helped establish more than 300 leagues where there are more than 52,000 kids playing on upwards of 4,000 teams within urban environments.
