Little League® Baseball and Softball will hold its Western Region Challenger Fun Days at the Little League Western Region Complex in San Bernardino, Calif., May 18-19. This year, 16 teams from southern California and three teams from Mexico will bring players with developmental and physical challenges to the event. This is one of two Western Region Challenger events, with the Western Region Challenger Jamboree taking place May 24-26 at the Dublin, Calif. Sports Park.

“It’s inspiring and heartfelt to see these wonderful children have fun, and enjoy all of the things that baseball has to offer,” Barbara Sky, Organizer of the Western Region Challenger Fun Days in San Bernardino, said. “Everyone who comes out to this event is special. And all of our volunteers work tirelessly to make sure this is an amazing event, and the smiles on the players’ faces are the ultimate reward.”

Established in 1989, the Little League Challenger Division® provides boys and girls with physical and developmental challenges, ages 4-18, or up to age 22 if still enrolled in high school, the opportunity to enjoy all that baseball has to offer. More than 30,000 children participate in more than 900 Challenger Divisions worldwide. This year, Little Leaguers will be able to participate in 13 Challenger Jamborees in 12 states. The boys and girls take part in a baseball game with a variety of other activities throughout the weekend. For more information on the Challenger Division, visit LittleLeague.org.

The Western Region Challenger Fun Days begins at 9 a.m. on Saturday, May 18, featuring a full slate of baseball games for the Challenger Division players, ending at 9 p.m. Carnival games, prizes, swimming, basketball and other activities will also be available to participants. The San Bernardino Sunset Rotary Club will provide lunch on Saturday, while the volunteer umpires will be cooking breakfast for the participants on Sunday morning. Players also enjoy a movie night on Saturday night in the stadium and camp out in a tent city. The activities resume at 10 a.m. on Sunday, May 19 and end at 3 p.m.
