In Managua, Nicaragua, Coquivacoa Little League from Maracaibo, Venezuela, captured the banner as Latin America Region Champions with the 8-5 win, defeating Tomas Munoz Little League from Panama City, Panama on Sunday, June 29. The league will return to South Williamsport, Pa., for the tenth time in the 68-year history of the Little League Baseball World Series.

History was made on June 3, 2014, as the Florida Gators defeated the Alabama Crimson Tide, 6-3, winning the school’s first Women’s College Softball World Series (WCWS) Title. For Game 2, Florida manager, Tim Walton surprised everyone by not starting his ace, and Game 1 starter, Hannah Rogers, who lead the way for the Gators all year with 30 wins and an era of just 1.68. Instead, he kept his promise to junior Lauren Haeger and gave her the Game 2 start in the best of three series.

Since Carl E. Stotz organized the first Little League season 75 years ago, the Williamsport community has been vital to the success of the organization. To celebrate the importance of the community, Little League President and CEO, Stephen D. Keener, announced a $150,000 grant to Susquehanna Health to support the creation of a Little League® Kids Zone at the Hospitality Inn at Williamsport Regional Medical Center. Mr. Keener made the announcement at the Little League 75th Anniversary Community Celebration at the Community Arts Center on Friday, June 6. Little League’s grant to Susquehanna Health Systems was made possible through the support of the Garth Brooks’ Teammates for Kids Foundation.
