The safety and security of everyone, including both the participants and the fans, at the Little League Baseball World Series is one of the most important considerations in the preparation for one of the summer’s most anticipated events.

Since 1999, Lenel Systems International, Inc. has contributed technology, supplies, services, manpower and expertise to help safeguard the World Series while restricting access to unauthorized people. For their contribution to making the Little League Baseball World Series a safe and secure environment, the global leader in advanced security systems has been selected as the recipient of the 2012 W. Howard Hartman Little League Friendship Award.

“For more than a decade, Lenel has been instrumental in providing us with the necessary security tools to make the venue safe and secure,” James Ferguson, Director of Security and Assistant Director of Risk Management for Little League International, said. “The Lenel system has allowed the World Series to reach the cutting edge of electronic security technology by providing us with the latest photo ID credentialing, access control and digital video technology.”

In the first few years of the relationship, Lenel provided the badging equipment, supplies and support. Since then, the access control system provided by Lenel, that ties all the security components together, has grown to include video surveillance of most of the Little League International Complex, alarm monitoring and intelligent video capabilities.

“We are honored to be given the 2012 W. Howard Hartman Little League Friendship Award,” Joe Kirmser, President of Lenel Systems International, Inc., said. “Our vision is to build the most advanced integrated security solutions in the world allowing our customers to effectively protect their people, property and assets. Nothing could be more important than protecting our children and future leaders. The event also embodies a competitive spirit and environment we at Lenel strive to emulate. Being a part of it and giving back frankly helps us foster this spirit within our company culture.”

The ceremony and presentation of the W. Howard Hartman Little League Friendship Award will take place as part of the Little League Baseball World Series on Friday, Aug. 17 prior to the 8 p.m. game at Lamade Stadium.

The W. Howard Hartman Little League Friendship Award was created in 1988 to honor W. Howard Hartman, one of Little League International’s most generous and loyal friends. The award is presented annually to an individual or organization who has demonstrated a similar relationship with Little League.
