First of Eight 2012 World Series Tournaments Is Under Way with the Big League Baseball World Series

The 2012 Big League Baseball World Series is under way at the Easley (S.C.) Recreation Complex.

The International Pool features teams representing Europe, Middle East and Africa (Friuli Venezia Giulia Little League - Friuli, Italy); Latin America (District 1 - Maracaibo, Venezuela); Canada (District 5 - Windsor, Ontario); Puerto Rico (District 1 - San Juan, Puerto Rico); and Asia-Pacific (Muntinlupa Little League - Muntinlupa, Philippines).

In the U.S. bracket, the host team from South Carolina District 1 will be joined by region champions from the Southeast (Florida District 12); Southwest (Texas District 34 – Laredo), East (New Jersey District 3 – Cumberland); West (California District 46 – Anaheim); and Central (Indiana District 10).

The Big League Baseball World Series for players, ages 15-to-18, will be played July 25-to-Aug. 1. On Wednesday, Aug. 1, the Big League World Series Championship Game will be televised lived on ESPN at 8 p.m. Eastern U.S. Time.
