Scott Spillman Named to Position with Little League Baseball and Softball
Scott Spillman has been named Little League’s Sponsorship and Marketing Coordinator, it was announced by Stephen D. Keener, President and Chief Executive Officer of Little League Baseball and Softball. Mr. Spillman will be a member of the Marketing Department at Little League International in South Williamsport, Pa.
“Scott is a young, energetic and knowledgeable professional who is joining our Marketing Department,” Mr. Keener said. “He will be a valuable member of our staff as we continue to develop new strategic relationships and strengthen the relationships with existing Little League partners.”
Mr. Spillman, a Fishers, Ind., native graduated in May from Indiana University, earning his undergraduate degree in Sports Marketing and Management.
During his final months at Indiana, Mr. Spillman worked for the Public Relations Department of the Indianapolis Colts, putting together a daily report of the news generated by the organization and its players. He also performed various duties for the Colts during the 2012 NFL Draft, including working with their draft choices, including the top overall pick, Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck.
The graduate of Hamilton Southeastern High School in his hometown, Mr. Spillman worked last summer for The Ripken Experience in Myrtle Beach, S.C., where he completed his internship. In his position as the Tournament Operations Intern, he assisted with the day-to-day operations of 10 week-long youth tournaments while also providing assistance in the retail store.
In addition, Mr. Spillman, who attended Lock Haven (Pa.) University for one year, spent one summer working for the Marketing Department of the Omaha Royals, the Triple-A affiliate of the Kansas City Royals.
“I’m really excited about working for a baseball institution like Little League with all of the great volunteers and employees that make it so special,” Mr. Spillman said.
In his new position, Mr. Spillman will assist in managing national sponsor and other strategic relationships, including organizing and implementing marketing, communications and promotional initiatives. He also will work with sponsor activations during the Little League International Tournament.
