Vendors Sought for Kids’ Day at Little League Museum

Non-profit organizations providing services for children are invited to participate in the 10th annual Kids’ Day at the Peter J. McGovern Little League Museum. There is no cost for any vendors interested in being a part of the event.

Kids’ Day is a free event full of family fun set against the backdrop of the Little League Museum in South Williamsport, Pa. Held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on March 24, the event is co-hosted by WVIA Public Media. Dugout, the Little League mascot, and Curious George, a beloved children’s book character, are available for parents to take photographs and is just a small part of the scheduled festivities. Some of the other activities expected to be part of Kids’ Day include story time and a cooking demonstration for children about healthy eating.

“Typically, between 500 and 1,100 children, parents, grandparents or chaperones attend Kids’ Day traveling through the museum interacting with local organizations and learning about the programs, products and activities that can make a difference in their daily lives,” Janice L. Ogurcak, Museum Director, said. “The event is an excellent opportunity to showcase your organization to a targeted and captive audience.”

In previous years, participating organizations have included Safe Kids of Lycoming County, Hope Enterprises Pre-School, Children’s Development Center and North Central Sight Services.

Organizations interested in participating should contact Mrs. Ogurcak by phone at: (570) 326-3607; or by e-mail at: jogurcak@LittleLeague.org. The deadline to secure your place at the event is March 1. A certificate of liability insurance is required and due by March 9. Space is limited.

The Little League Museum is currently featuring the “Diamonds to Gridirons: Little Leaguers in the NFL” exhibit that includes memorabilia from several Pro Football Hall of Famers who played Little League Baseball. The exhibit will be at the museum until May.

The Peter J. McGovern Little League Museum, located at 525 Route 15 Highway in South Williamsport, Pa., is currently open Fridays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on other days by appointment.

For more information on the museum’s programming, contact Mrs. Ogurcak at: (570) 326-3607. Admission to the museum is $5 for anyone 14 and older; $1.50 for children ages 5-13; and $3 for senior citizens (62 and over). Children age 4 and younger are admitted free of charge. Group rates and tours are available. The museum also offers birthday parties and after hour facility rentals.
