Michele Smith to Hold Series of Softball Clinics for Little League Coaches

Two-time USA Softball Olympic gold medalist Michele Smith and Little League Baseball and Softball will again this spring team up for a series of clinics sponsored by Musco Sports Lighting, the official sports lighting system of Little League.

Ms. Smith will conduct a one-day clinic in each of the five U.S. Little League regions. These exclusive clinics are open to all Little League managers, coaches, parents and league officials. This is the seventh year she has conducted clinics for Little League volunteers.

The clinic schedule for 2011 follows:

Ms. Smith’s presentation will include training tips, skills and drills in all areas of the game sharing the experiences she has gained from playing softball at the highest level all over the world.

Coaches and managers attending the clinic are encouraged to bring their own gloves and bats. Ms. Smith will encourage participation during her presentation of drills and skills. Clinic participants will also receive a clinic outline prepared by Ms. Smith and lunch. All clinics will be held rain or shine.

Ms. Smith helped Team USA to back-to-back gold medals in the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta and the 2000 Olympics in Sydney, Australia. She also was a member of the 1998 U.S. team that captured a gold medal in the Canada Cup and the Pan American Games. In addition, she also was an integral member of the U.S. team that won the 2002 International Softball Federation World Championship.

Information on the clinics is available on the Little League website at: http://www.littleleague.org/leagueofficers/clinics.htm.
