World Series Pin to Benefit Little League Relay for Life Team
A pin specially-designed for the Little League Baseball World Series later this month will benefit the Relay for Life Team at the Little League International offices in South Williamsport, Pa.
A core group of 13 Little League employees annually raise money throughout the year with several different fund-raising events for the Relay for Life event in May. The sale of the World Series pins is one of those fund-raising events.
There will be 1,000 pins sold for $4 each during the World Series. The pins will be available for purchase starting Aug. 18 at the Gift Shop, located adjacent to Lamade Stadium, and at the souvenir stand on the first-base side of Lamade Stadium. Last year, the 500 pins that were available for sale during the World Series sold out in two days.
All profits from the sale of the pins will benefit the American Cancer Society and the Relay for Life event.
The Little League “Intentional Walkers” Relay for Life team is in its ninth year of supporting the fight against cancer and has raised more than $75,000. Last year alone, they raised an all-time high of $16,000.
Each year the group of Little League employees holds a bingo event to raise money. This year’s event will be in Feb. 18, 2012, hosted by Independent Fire Company at the fire company's Clark Street facilities in South Williamsport
Their other annual events are fall and spring yard sales. The fall yard sale is scheduled to be held Nov. 12.
