Southwest U.S. Regional Director, Little League International (Waco, Texas)

Reporting to the Sr. Director of League Development & Regional Operations, the Southwestern Region Director manages the relationships and operations necessary to run the Little League programs in the 7 states in the Southwest Region of the United States.

Program management includes:

  • Provide comprehensive leadership, planning, and administration of the Little League programs, and manage and control the staff, maintenance, and facility operations in Waco, Texas
  • Implement and coordinate local league and district operation strategies and tournaments for 13 levels of play in baseball and softball
  • Facilitate large group educational sessions and meetings where public speaking is required
  • Promote community relations and partnerships through attendance at civic events and service to community organizations
  • Maintain consistent communication with local league and district volunteers and provide motivation, direction, and support
  • Maintain accurate financial records and budgets of the regional center
  • Travel to all states in the region by car and/or plane required

Requirements/Qualifications include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Administration, Business, Public Relations, or related field
  • Familiarity with Little League rules and regulations
  • Baseball/Softball background and knowledge
  • Proficient computer skills with knowledge of MS Office
  • Passion for youth development, community building, and mentoring
  • Public speaking experience
  • Previous management experience required
  • Bilingual Spanish/English required
  • Live within commuting distance to regional office

Full Time Assistant Director of U.S. Central Region - Indianapolis, Indiana

Little League® Baseball and Softball is the world’s largest organized youth sports program, with 2.4 million players and one million adult volunteers in every U.S. state and more than 80 other countries. Founded in 1939, more than 35 million people around the world, from a U.S. president to community leaders to professional athletes, can call themselves Little League graduates. We are currently seeking an Assistant Director for our U. S. Central Region. This full time position is responsible for assisting the Director of the Central Region in the operation of the Regional Center while administering the Little League Program in the Central Region of the U.S. This includes providing service and support for league and district operations, in addition to coordinating tournament operations and schedules. This assistant director will work with the regional director to inform, educate and promote the Little League program to internal and external audiences in the Central Region. This individual will work to develop the Little League program in the Central Region through strong leadership, strategic planning and clear expectations in a professional environment of teamwork and collaboration.

Minimum Requirements:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Sports Administration, Business Administration, Communications, Marketing or related field
  2. Experience in managing, motivating and working with volunteers
  3. Proven understanding of clear, concise, consistent messaging through various platforms
  4. Superior communication skills, both verbal and written
  5. Excellent organizational Skills
  6. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
  7. Ability to work well with others in a stressful environment
  8. Excellent presentation skills
  9. Strong intuitive and reasoning skills
  10. Ability to work nights and weekends through the year and be receptive to schedule changes
  11. Must have a valid driver’s license
  12. Must pass background check

  1. Minimum three years’ experience working in the sports industry

Sponsorship and Marketing Coordinator

Little League International is seeking a full time Sponsorship and Marketing Coordinator for our South Williamsport, Pennsylvania location. This position requires a bachelor’s degree in marketing, sports management or related field and two to three years of relevant marketing, sponsorship, media sales or sports-related industry experience. Candidate must be able to work in a fast paced environment with exceptional organizational skills, possess strong written and oral communication skills and demonstrate a solid understanding of client service. Event management experience a plus, and a solid understanding of marketing principles including sponsorships, event marketing, merchandising, licensing, advertising, and public relations.

Programmer Analyst

Little League® International has an immediate opening in South Williamsport, PA for a full-time PROGRAMMER ANALYST reporting to the Director of Information Services. This position will provide software development for new and existing projects, assistance in upgrading existing software and databases, and system support and software development for Little League International’s enterprise resource planning (ERP) software. This position operates as part of a team under the mentorship of the Director of Information Services. Individuals who desire to work for a company with 75+ years of history supporting youth baseball and softball and who enjoy facing an evolving set of technical challenges should apply.

QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science plus a minimum of two years work experience designing, programming, and troubleshooting object-oriented applications in C# or VB.NET. Four or more years of work experience will be considered in lieu of a degree. Similar lengths of experience with SQL and developing both web and desktop applications are required. Intermediate knowledge of computer hardware, networks, mainframe architecture, Microsoft Office, and enterprise resource planning (ERP) applications is also required.

The ideal candidate will have experience in one or more of the following: IBM eServer iSeries (AS/400) platform, RPG programming, system documentation, JD Edwards EnterpriseOne ERP software, and financial accounting best practices. A willingness to learn these skills on the job and independently is a must in order to be successful in this position.

Candidates must be customer-service focused, as this position will occasionally require providing guidance and assistance to internal and external users, both in-person and by phone. Strong communication and organizational skills are also required.

While most work is done during normal business hours, occasional peaks in workload and special events such as the Little League World Series may require working in the evenings and on weekends. Occasional (< 5%) travel may be required.

Compensation is commensurate with experience.

Spring-Summer Marketing Intern

Little League Baseball, Incorporated, the world’s largest youth sports program located in South Williamsport, Pennsylvania is seeking a part-time Marketing Intern for the spring; January – May, 2017 and summer; June – August, 2017. This is an excellent opportunity for a college student to gain valuable experience within our Marketing, Sponsorship, Licensing and Merchandising departments. The ideal candidates will be self-motivated, have excellent communication and customer service skills; have an understanding of marketing principles and concepts as well as strong computer skills. The minimal level of education is a college junior or senior enrolled in a relevant Marketing program. The intern positions are being offered at $8.00/hour. Housing, transportation and all expenses are the responsibility of the intern. Summer 2017 – Sports Turf Internship

Little League Baseball and Softball is the world’s largest youth sports organization. Located in scenic South Williamsport, PA, the Little League complex is home to six baseball fields including Howard J. Lamade and Volunteer Stadiums. The stadium field playing surfaces are 100% Kentucky Bluegrass.

The complex in South Williamsport hosts the annual Little League World Series each August and attracts thousands of visitors each year. The complex also hosts six weeks of Little League Baseball Summer Camp and several other events and tournaments throughout the summer.

Sports Turf Intern’s will be exposed to all aspects of the field maintenance operation including:

• Participate in meetings regarding field use and game day logistics
• Assist in field preparations which include mowing, edging, clay work, dragging and lining
• Assist in fertilization, irrigation maintenance and pesticide program as appropriate
• Maintain and repair infield skin surfaces
• Mound, plate and bullpen clay repairs
• Assist with aeration throughout the season
• Participate in sod work
• Warning track maintenance
• Assist in tarp pulls
• Perform preventative maintenance of grounds equipment

Requirements:

• Applicant must be currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Agronomy, Turf Grass Management or related field
• Excellent work ethic
• Knowledge of baseball field dimensions and layout, preferred
• General knowledge of operating and maintaining grounds keeping equipment
• Valid driver’s license
• Ability to lift at least 50 pounds
• Frequent bending, stooping and lifting
• Must pass criminal background check
• Flexible work schedule including holidays, evenings and weekends, as needed
• Must be able to work in all weather conditions, including extreme heat and rain

Cpmpensation:

• $7.50 per hour
• Housing provided, must sign housing agreement. Board not included
• Lunch included Monday through Friday

Summer 2017 – Landscaping Internship

Little League Baseball and Softball is the world’s largest youth sports organization. Its Headquarters is located in scenic South Williamsport, PA. The 72 acre Little League complex hosts the annual Little League Baseball World Series every August and attracts thousands of visitors annually. It also plays host to 6 weeks of Little League Baseball Summer Camps and numerous other events and tournaments throughout the summer.

The Landscaping intern responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Work with Landscaper to coordinate and perform daily tasks
• Assist in caring for lawns, shrubs, annuals and perennials
• Assist with mowing, weeding, pruning, trimming, edging, mulching, watering and other general landscaping functions

Qualifications:

• Working toward an undergraduate degree in Landscaping, Horticulture or related field
• Excellent work ethic
• Knowledge of all types of plant material including flowers, annual and perennial plants
• General knowledge of operating and maintaining all equipment pertaining to landscaping equipment
• Previous landscaping or gardening experience, preferred
• Valid driver’s license
• Ability to lift at least 50 pounds
• Frequent bending, stooping and lifting
• Must pass criminal background check
• Flexible work schedule including holidays, evenings and weekends, as needed.
• Must be able to work in all weather conditions, including extreme heat

Compensation:

Little League Summer Camp Structure and Goals

  • Little League Baseball has been offering summer camps for more than 30 years, teaching baseball skills and providing a wide range of recreation activities.
  • The Little League Summer Camps are conducted under the direction of well screened highly qualified staff or instructors.
  • The camps provide the latest training aids and instructional techniques. All equipment used is approved by Little League Baseball to provide maximum safety for the Little League campers.
  • Performance/compatibility evaluations for each camper are provided to parents after each session.
  • The camps are designed for younger players who need more guidance in the fundamentals of the game, while more advanced players are challenged to sharpen their skills and try new positions.

  • Camp sessions run from Sunday afternoon through the following Friday morning.

Counselor Position Responsibilities and Benefits

  • Assist Coach in teaching baseball skills to players.
  • Assist Coach during games against other camp teams.
  • Help supervise other recreational camp activities such as swimming.
  • Team size is approximately 14 players.
  • All camp employees are provided sleeping quarters separate from the players (with the exception of our Central Region location) but are responsible for their team at all times during the week-long camp.
  • Facilities at each camp may vary but all locations provide comfortable accommodations.
  • Salary plus meals, laundry, towels and linens.

Beginning the Summer of 2011, the Counselor in Training (CIT) program has been discontinued. If you are at least 16 years old, you are eligible to apply for a Counselor position. Please see the Counselor Position Responsibilities and Benefits, if you are interested.
