American International Group, Inc. (AIG), one of the leaders in the insurance industry, is excited to be affiliated with Little League Baseball and Softball. AIG’s Lexington Insurance company has made a commitment to Little League’s players and volunteers through its support of the annual Little League Awards program, while fellow AIG company, National Union Fire Insurance, lends its support to ASAP (A Safety Awareness Program). These programs highlight the critical importance of volunteers at the grass roots level; honor special youngsters whose current participation in Little league exemplify a positive attitude, team spirit and sportsmanship; recognize distinguished graduates who serve as positive role models; and acknowledge individuals who have contributed significantly to the promotion of the ideals and goals of the Little League movement. Local leagues benefit from AIG’s sponsorship through the comprehensive scope, simplicity and compactness of this protection. As a supporter of ASAP, AIG continues to promote a safe, positive and healthy environment for children, and in turn rewards local leagues with a 20 percent AIG accident insurance credit for all approved ASAP plans. Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) is a Stanford University-based non-profit dedicated to ensuring a positive, character-building experience for all youth athletes. A Double-Goal Coach has two goals: to Win (goal #1) and the more important goal (#2) of using baseball to teach positive life lessons.
Since 1998 nearly 100 Little League organizations have partnered locally with PCA to provide additional educational resources and tools to their Coaches, Administrators and Parents. Here’s what one Little League President has to say about his league’s experience with PCA:
"We recently conducted the two hour Leadership workshop with our board of directors members and received overwhelmingly positive feedback. Our next move is to deliver a mandatory manager, coach and team rep clinic that will cover approximately 120 of our volunteers with direct relationships to our youth athletes. The PCA philosophy adds a structured format to the best coaching techniques that you have seen on the field, which allows a league to improve the consistency of quality coaching throughout the league by applying common terms, philosophy framework, and tools."
