How do I get there?
The Peter J. McGovern Little League Museum is located at 525 Route 15 Highway in South Williamsport, Pa. The museum is on the Little League International complex, two miles south of Williamsport (Routes 220 and 180). From the south, it is 15 miles north of Interstate 180 on Route 15. Although Route 15 has an alternate route, the museum is accessible by continuing north on the highway. What are the hours and rates? The museum is open for its winter hours 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Thursday and Friday; noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday from Labor Day until Memorial Day. The summer hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 7 p.m. Sunday. The museum is closed Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day holidays. Admission is $1.50 for children (ages 5 through 13), $5 for adults and $3 for senior citizens (62 years and older). Children four and younger are admitted free of charge. Other hours are by appointment only. Is the museum accessible to those who have a disability? Yes. There is an elevator so both levels of the museum are accessible. Some of the audio exhibits have captioning for the hearing impaired. What will I see in the museum? The museum chronicles the history of Little League Baseball and Softball. On display are early artifacts and those from recent Little League World Series games. The museum offers a Hall of Excellence, a theater, hands-on exhibits, batting and pitching cages, a timed running track and a collection of autographed baseballs and baseball cards. There are two levels. The museum is adjacent to the Little League Baseball World Series complex, so patrons also may see Howard J. Lamade Stadium where the championship game is played. Does the Peter J. McGovern Little League Museum offer birthday parties? Birthday parties can be scheduled after Labor Day through mid-April during museum hours. Parties are not scheduled during the summer because of the increased number of visitors in the museum. The fee is $1.50 for children between the ages of five and 13; $2.50 for adults; $1.50 for senior citizens and children four and younger are admitted free. The admission includes a two-hour time block; a tour of the museum, if requested; use of the batting and pitching cages and the running track. We provide tables and chairs. You need to bring your own paper ware and refreshments. Pizza deliveries can be made here. Do you have group rates and guided tours? We offer group rates for pre-registered organizations of at least 10 people. Rates are 75 cents for children between the ages of five and 13; $2.50 for adults; $1.50 for senior citizens and children four and younger are admitted free. Guided tours are available at no additional charge. Guided tours are not offered during the Little League Baseball World Series. Does Dugout make appearances at parties or tours at the museum? Yes, Dugout often is available to visit for a half hour if a request is made in advance. Dugout gives every child an autographed photograph and participates with the children on the running track and other activities. If it is a birthday party, Dugout presents the birthday child with a special gift bag. Parents also may take photographs of their children with Little League’s mascot. The $25 fee is in addition to the party or tour fee and must be paid to the Dugout crew. Cash, check or money order is acceptable. Can the museum be rented after hours? Yes, the museum is available for rental after hours. The museum requires a $75 fee for a two-hour visit. No alcoholic beverages or tobacco products may be used inside the museum. A non-refundable $25 advance deposit is required. A current certificate of insurance may be required. Please contact the museum at 570-326-3607 for additional information. I only want to stop by the gift shop; do I have to pay admission to the museum? No, you may visit the gift shop when it is open during museum hours without paying admission. Or you may visit a souvenir shop located behind the museum and adjacent to Howard J. Lamade Stadium. That shop is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, except for holidays.
